Our History

The Ziemer family has been serving the Evansville community since 1927.  Our professional and caring staff takes pride in providing meaningful ceremonies that meet the special needs of your family.  The Ziemer Funeral Home team is detail oriented, courteous and knowledgeable.  We offer a complete range of high quality and affordable services from funerals to cremation and are experienced at honoring many faiths and customs.  It is our goal to support you through every step of your arrangements and to commemorate the special memory of your loved one.

  • Jerry Ziemer

    Jerry Ziemer CEO

    Jerry has been serving the Evansville community for over 50 years at Ziemer Funeral Homes. He spent many years learning the funeral business from his father, Ted Ziemer. At the age of 35, his father passed away unexpectedly, leaving Jerry to continue the legacy of Ziemer Funeral Homes. He has been working alongside his son, Daniel, to ensure the highest quality of service continues for each family. Jerry and his wife, Patty, have 4 children and 14 grandchildren. Jerry has participated in many organizations in the community including Evansville Rotary, Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Shriners, Youth First, Tri-State MS and Boys & Girls Club. He enjoys traveling and playing golf.

  • Daniel Ziemer

    Daniel Ziemer President

    Daniel is the third generation of Ziemers to serve the Evansville community with his family business. He started in maintenance, mowing lawns and transporting flowers when he was 15 years old. Daniel graduated from Memorial High School in 1988. He is a 1992 graduate of Ball State University with a degree in Entrepreneurship. Daniel received his funeral directors degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1993 and returned to Evansville to begin working for Ziemer Funeral Home as a funeral director with his father, Jerry. Daniel and his wife, Jennifer, are members of St. Benedict's Cathedral. Two of their children (Leo and Max) attend Memorial High School while the other three (Sam, Ben, and Sadie) attend St. Benedict's Cathedral School. Daniel is involved in Knights of Columbus, Hadi Shriners, Northside Kiwanis and various other community organizations. Daniel's quiet, confident demeanor is a comfort to the families who are overwhelmed emotionally. There is no question that he is treating every family as his family.

  • Jennifer Ziemer

    Jennifer Ziemer Operations Director

    Jennifer is Daniel's wife and joined Ziemer Funeral Home in 2014. Jennifer is originally from upstate New York and moved to Evansville with her family in 1986 when her father transferred with Bristol Myers Squibb. She graduated from Memorial High School, where she met Daniel. Jennifer graduated from Ball State University in 1992 with a major in Sales and Marketing and a minor in Finance. Daniel and Jennifer have four sons (Leo, Max, Sam, and Ben) and a daughter named Sadie. Jennifer is an integral part of the day-to-day operations for Ziemer Funeral Homes, executing all marketing and accounting responsibilities. In addition, she assists families with the filing of insurance claims. Jennifer enjoys helping families organize necessary paperwork and acting as an advocate through the insurance claims process. She enjoys spending her time traveling with her family, playing golf, coaching, and watching her kids at their various sporting events.

  • Angelo P.  Ruehmkorff

    Angelo P. Ruehmkorff Director of Family Services & Advanced Planning

    Angelo Ruehmkorff has been a member of the Ziemer Funeral Home team since 2003. Angelo is a native of Newburgh, Indiana and he graduated from Memorial High School in 1991. He graduated from the University of Southern Indiana in 1995. Angelo has a lovely wife, Vanessa and two boys, Austin and Samuel. Angelo is a member of St. James Catholic Church. He enjoys spending time with his family, running and cycling. Angelo is the Director of Family Services at Ziemer Funeral Home. Many visitors to Ziemer Funeral Home know how special Angelo is, as part of the Ziemer team. Angelo is capable of leadership and yet possesses a friendly, outgoing spirit. His personality allows him to rise to the challenge of managing, while maintaining a gentle, peaceful ambiance —creating an atmosphere of love and kindness for those who he serves. "Every time I help a family with advanced planning, it gives me great satisfaction to know that the children will not have to make these arrangements on one of the worst days of their lives." Angelo believes that families should make these choices together rather than alone.

  • Scott Tenhumberg

    Scott Tenhumberg Funeral Director

    Scott Tenhumberg is both an Indiana and Kentucky Funeral Director and Embalmer, and has been with us since 2003. He grew up in Evansville, graduating from F.J. Reitz High School and Vincennes University. He and his wife, Amy, are members of Christian Fellowship Church and have two children Nick and Derek Hugo. Scott feels that funeral service has been an amazing and fulfilling career and ministry.

  • Tim Garrett

    Tim Garrett Assistant

    Tim has been with Ziemer Funeral Home in different capacities for 15 years and in 2021 joined Ziemer as a full-time assistant to the Funeral Directors. Tim is from Evansville and graduated from Central High School in 1979. Tim is also a graduate of Spurgeon Baptist Bible College and has pastored churches for 30 years. Tim considers it a privilege and honor to minister to our community when they are facing one of the most difficult times of their lives. Tim believes that walking close beside hurting people is what Ziemer Funeral Homes is all about. Tim and his wife Kelly have 4 children and 10 grandchildren. Tim pastors Living Hope Church, enjoys running, playing the trumpet, and eating m & m’s.

  • Mae Pavelka

    Mae Pavelka

    Mae joined the Ziemer Funeral Home team in 2021 as a Funeral Director Intern. She is from Southeastern Missouri and graduated from West Plains High School in 2016. Mae attended Indiana University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2019. While attending IU she was involved in Marching Hundred and Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority. In 2020 Mae graduated from Mid-America College of Funeral Service with a bachelor’s degree in Funeral Service. She is currently earning her Master’s degree in Thanatology at Marian University Wisconsin. Mae believes the most rewarding part of her career is making a positive difference in the lives of those who are grieving. In her free time Mae enjoys tennis, golf, the gym, spending time with her family, and going on walks with her dog, Chloé.

  • David Brown

    David Brown Advanced Planning Counselor

    David has been a member of the Ziemer Funeral Home team since 2015. He is a native of Evansville and graduated from North High School and the University of Evansville. David and his wife, Bridget, have three children; Jacob, Isaac, and Carly. He is a member of St. Benedict Cathedral and enjoys spending time with his family. David's strong work ethic and organizational skills allow him to customize pre-planned funerals to meet customer needs.

  • Leo Ziemer

    Leo Ziemer Manager-Ziemer Pet Memorial

    Leo is a 2017 graduate of Memorial High School. He has been attending Indiana University in pursuit of his business degree from the Kelley School of Business. He has been working at Ziemer Funeral Home during the summers on property maintenance and office support. In the summer of 2019, he began managing the Ziemer Pet Memorial Center and providing support on funeral services. He loves golfing, movies and beating his younger brothers and sister at ping pong.

  • Max Ziemer

    Max Ziemer Office Support

    Max is a 2019 graduate of Memorial High School. He will be attending Indiana University in the fall in pursuit of a business degree from the Kelley School of Business. He has been working this summer for Ziemer Funeral Homes as supporting staff for funerals and administrative assistance. He spends his free time playing golf, ping pong and being at the YMCA.
