Thomas J. Preske, 84, of Evansville, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022 at home, surrounded by his family after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born December 24, 1937 in Evansville to the late Paul and Cornelia (Stocker) Preske. Tom graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1955, and after graduation served 6 years in the United States Navy. Tom was a sheet metal journeyman for over 45 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Retirees Club and served as their secretary and treasurer. After retirement Tom worked at the Little Sisters of the Poor, volunteered at the Little Sisters, and was a member of the Jeanne Jugan Society. He was also a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Tom is survived by his daughters, Kimberly (Don) Travis of Noblesville, Christine (Jim) Mramor, of Westfield, and Leanne Preske of Evansville; son Jeff (Patti) Preske of Moore, OK; daughters, Catherine (Daniel) Coleman, Angela Jo (Joe) Calvin; and son, Kevin (Jackie) Young; grandchildren, Drew (Kacie Kincade), Adam, Sarah, and Nathan Travis, Michael and Megan Mramor, and Madilyn Preske; brother, Otto Preske of Gatlinburg, TN; and mother of his children, Elizabeth (Hayden) Hagan. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cora S. Preske, who passed away in 2006; and brother, Jerome Preske. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel 626 First Avenue, with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 418 N. Wabash Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church, with Father John Brosmer officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct graveside services. The service will be livestreamed on Ziemer Funeral Home and Cremation Services Facebook page 20 minutes before the service time.
