Thomas E. Kempf

February 2, 1929 - April 3, 2022

Thomas E. Kempf, 93, of Evansville, Indiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Parkview Care Center with his loving family by his side. Tom was born on February 2, 1929 to Magdalena (Reugg) and Leo Kempf and graduated from Memorial High School in 1949. He joined the US Army and served in Germany during WWII in the 101st Airborne Division. Upon his return from service, he married Jacqueline Nordhaus and together they raised eight children. Tom worked for Whirlpool Corporation, retiring in 1984 where he received a Lifetime Associates Award. He was an avid bass fisherman and an excellent bowler. In 1988 he married Sandy (Scott) and Tom welcomed her two sons and loved them like his own. He dearly loved music, it soothed his soul particularly guitar and banjo music played by his brothers and father. He also enjoyed gardening and tending to his flower gardens, especially his beautiful roses. Tom will be remembered for his outgoing personality, never meeting a stranger, his kind and generous spirit, his love of laughter with his ability to make others laugh. Tom dearly loved all his family and he will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him. Tom is survived by his children; Tom Kempf (Debbie) Dave Kempf (Tammy), Susie Martin (Kerry), Kim Patterson, Ben Kempf (Gayla), Dan Kempf (Mary), Steve Kempf (Marjie), stepchildren; Scott Mayes (Mary Davis) and Rick Mayes (Mary), brothers; Leo Kempf, Steve Kempf and Leonard Kempf; mother of his children; Jackie (Nordhaus) Kempf, 23 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2nd wife; Sandy Kempf, son; Jeff Kempf, brothers,Jim, Robert, John and Kenneth Kempf and sister; Mathilda Inkenbrandt. Visitation will be Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave, Evansville, IN 47710. Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2022 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel with Pastor Isaac Martin officiating, entombment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Vanderburgh Humane Society, 400 Millner Industrial Dr., Evansville, IN 47710. On behalf of Tom and his family we would like to acknowledge the entire staff at Parkview Care Center. They have genuinely loved and cared for our dad these past four years. We could not have placed him anywhere else that could have made him more content. Our love and extreme gratitude to each of them, especially Fran.
