Susanna (Sue) Buthod

July 6, 1929 - October 31, 2021

Susanna (Sue) Buthod passed away peacefully October 31, 2021 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana. She was born on July 6, 1929 in Evansville to the late Ralph and Julia (Covert) Dannettell. She was preceded in death by her husband John L. Buthod, her brother Ralph Dannettell, Jr., and her sister, Mary C. Dannettell. She is survived by her sons Robert M. Buthod (Laura), James L. Buthod, and John Thomas Buthod; her grandsons Mitchell Buthod (Erica) and Stuart Buthod. Sue and John celebrated 65 years of marriage on August 9, 2017 before his death on August 24th of that year. She graduated from high school in Lawrenceville, Illinois in 1947. She received her BA degree from Evansville College in 1951 and her MA degree from the University of Evansville in 1971. She was a teacher with the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation for many years, spending most of her career as the librarian at Howard Roosa School. Sue was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Evansville for 71 years where she served as an elder and clerk of session. "Grammy" is lovingly remembered by her family as an avid gardener, reader, and sports fan. She had a kind and generous heart. Her family is very thankful to have had her love and guidance for so many years. Visitation will be Thursday November 4, 2021 from 2 pm to 6 pm at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave, Evansville, IN. Funeral service will be Friday November 5, 2021 at 11 am at First Presbyterian Church, preceded by visitation starting at 10 am. Family requests that visitors wear masks and observe social distancing. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to First Presbyterian Church, 609 S.E. Second St., Evansville, IN 47713.
