Rita Harlan

July 22, 1941 - December 14, 2021

Rita Harlan, 80, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Park Terrace Village. She was born July 22, 1941 in Evansville to the late Dorothy (Corbett) and Leo Vollman. Rita lived in California when she was younger and worked as a Comptometer Operator and met Lawrence Welk. She worked for Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation where she worked in the cafeteria at Perry Heights. She retired from Trader Bakers in April of 2018. Rita and her husband, Robert, were foster parents and were members of Foster Care Association. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church of God. Rita enjoyed bowling, bingo, baking, canning and, in her later years, painting. She was known for her loving smile. She had an unconditional love for family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Belinda (Boone) Welp, Tina (Eric) Frazier and Pamela Murphy (Rick Williams); stepdaughters, Rosie (Danny) Lehman and Rhonda Espenlaub; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Rose Reuter, Anita McBride, Theresa Norman, Elizabeth Bogard, Catherine Houseman, Patrick Volllman and James Vollman; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Harlan; stepson, Roland Harlan; grandson, Joshua Rumble; sister, Virginia Vollman; and brothers, Leo Vollman and Albert Vollman. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 First Ave., Evansville. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the funeral home. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Bruce Applegate officiating. Service will be live streamed on Ziemer Funeral Home and Cremation Services Facebook page starting 20 minutes prior to service time. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
