Richard C. Van Gordon Jr.

Richard C. Van Gordon, Jr., 81, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 at West River Health Campus in Evansville. He was born December 9, 1939, in Prospect, KY to the late Richard C. Van Gordon, Sr., and Mary E. (Greenrose) Van Gordon. Richard was a branch manager for United Refrigeration, Inc. He was a former member of Nativity Catholic Church. Richard served for 9 years in the United States Marines. He was honorably discharged and earned the rank of Sergeant. He was an avid sports fan. He is survived by daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” (Steven) Wargel; son, Jeffrey Scott (Emily) Van Gordon; grandchildren, Jessica Leisure, April Robinson, Sarah Tapp, Zachary Wargel, Eva Van Gordon; great-grandchildren, Meghan Peugh, Austin Van Gordon, and Jasmine Gibson. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen (Hagan) Van Gordon; and son, Jason Alan Van Gordon in 2016. Visitation will be Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, IN 47714. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Fr. Ryan Hilderbrand officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
