Reverend Kevin Scott Fleming

December 10, 1957 - February 12, 2022

Reverend Kevin Scott Fleming died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 12 in Evansville. He was 64. Kevin was born December 10, 1957 in Pittsburgh to the late John Bernard and Lillian (Fredley) Fleming and was baptized as an infant. He was blessed to live his whole life in the heart of the church, knowing he was claimed by the love of God. He lived his life in response to that love. Kevin graduated from Mars High School and Westminster College in Pennsylvania; and from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He was ordained a Minister of the Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church USA in 1986. He served as Associate Pastor of The Hill Church in Butler, Pennsylvania, Pastor of Oakland Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Ohio, and from 1997 until his death as Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Evansville. Kevin had a quick wit, a passion for music, and he loved to cook. He was a close friend of Santa Claus whom he enjoyed helping for many seasons. Kevin is survived by his wife, Rev. Wendy McCormick of Evansville; his children, Lydia McCormick Fleming of Evansville, Joanna McCormick Fleming of Bloomington, and Abigail McCormick Fleming of Columbus, Ohio; his sister, Melody Schell of Traverse City, Michigan; his brother, Keith Fleming of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; his mother-in-law, Judy McCormick of Dayton, Ohio: and the people of First Presbyterian Church. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, February 19, 2022, 1:00 pm Central Time with Rev. Doctor Sara Dingman officiating. The service will also be live-streamed on the church website and Facebook page. The family will receive friends after the service. Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue will be handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes gifts in Kevin’s memory to First Presbyterian Church, 609 SE 2nd St., Evansville, IN 47713, (firstpresevansville.com), Tri-State Food Bank, 2504 Lynch Rd., Evansville, IN 47711 (tristatefoodbank.org), or the Crested Butte Land Trust, 308 3rd St., Crested Butte, CO 81224 (cblandtrust.org).
