September 5, 1976 - September 12, 2021
Paula Mayfield-Ford, 45, of Evansville, IN passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021, at home. She was born September 5, 1976, in Henderson, KY to Robert F. Mitchell and the late Mary A. (Eblen) Mitchell. “Living the dream” was her motto and she truly lived it. From an early age, Paula developed a vivacious personality, keen sense of humor, and displayed an immense zest for life. Paula loved her friends and family with all her heart and was always providing encouragement, support, or advice to those closest to her. She was an enormous light in the lives of her grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Paula was a 1994 graduate of Henderson County High School. While at HCHS, she participated in many activities and was a member of a variety of student organizations. Paula earned her Bachelor’s Degree in 1998 and Masters of Business Administration in 2005 from the University of Southern Indiana. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and was loved by all for her magnetic personality and Kentucky accent -- she was the star of the “Hee-Haw” themed recruitment events. Paula had a strong work ethic. She worked her way through college often working two (2) jobs. Paula could sell virtually anything. Before cancer robbed her of her career, she was at Irving Materials, Inc. where she sold and marketed concrete and concrete products. She was a rising star. Paula was a strong woman of faith and a longtime member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Most recently, she volunteered at Holy Redeemer in the cafeteria and the school office. Paula frequently led faith study groups including Walking With Purpose and served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. As a loving and devoted mother first and foremost, Paula’s greatest treasure were her two daughters, Lilli and Mary. They were everything to her. She was determined to be present and active within their lives and was their greatest supporter, encourager and advocate through coaching cheerleading and watching softball games, swim meets, cross country and many theatre productions. Paula was also insistent on providing a sea of wonderful memories for the girls to cherish through vacationing together to Walt Disney World, the beach, Caribbean Cruise and other experiences and memories that will last a lifetime. Paula was demanding and had high expectations; however, she loved her girls fiercely and instilled many of her qualities that will forever be a reminder to all as Mary and Lilli are her living legacy. Paula’s husband, Skyler, came into her life at the perfect time. It was God’s timing. They loved one another fiercely and exemplified the perfect team. He has been a rock for her especially when cancer really beat her down and has lovingly supported her throughout their entire marriage. She entrusted him with her most precious gifts - her daughters. Paula is survived by her husband, Skyler; daughters, Lillian and Mary, and stepson Jackie all of Evansville, IN; father, Robert F Mitchell of Henderson, KY.; brothers, Rob Mitchell (April) of Henderson, KY and Joe Mitchell (Sabrina) of Nashville, TN; mother-in-law Donna Ford of Evansville, IN; sister-in-law, Stephanie Phillips; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and too many friends to count. Paula was preceded in death by her beloved Mother, Mary A. (Eblen) Mitchell. Paula’s family would like to take the opportunity to express their appreciation to the numerous friends, loved ones, and physicians who have graciously provided continuous support, encouragement and prayers for Paula throughout her journey and for the generosity shown to her family. A gathering will be from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Father Jason Gries officiating. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, a savings account for Paula’s daughters, Lillian and Mary, in care of Skyler Ford, has been established at Independence Bank for expressions of sympathy. Condolences may be made online at www.ziemerfuneralhome.com.
