Michael L. Hirsch Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Michael L. Hirsch, 75, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Transcendent Health Care. He was born June 23, 1945 in Evansville to the late Oliver and Barbara (Farney) Hirsch. Michael graduated from Memorial High School in 1963. He was employed by various machinery manufacturing companies, including Master Tool & Die, Benerson Corporation, Deluxe Industries, and George Koch Sons. Mike designed automated assembly equipment. He was a past member of Nativity Catholic Church and presently a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. While a member of Nativity Catholic Church he was past President of the Men’s Club, member of the Parish Council and Scoutmaster. He and his wife Cheryl received the Bruté Society Award for their dedicated service to Nativity Church. Michael is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cheryl (Freihaut) Hirsch; daughters, Tamara (Chuck) Davis, Madisonville, KY, Shari (Lee) Smith, Kuttawa, KY, son, Daniel (Shari) Hirsch, Evansville; grandchildren, Heather Gibson, Eric Davis, Danielle, Benjamin, and Cameron Smith, Jacob, Katie Jo, and Justin Hirsch; one great grandson, Dimitri Gibson; brother, Paul (Patricia) Hirsch;sisters, Betsy Peak and Martha Diedrich; sister-in-law, Jeanne Hirsch, all of Evansville. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Erin Hewitt; brothers, Dennis and Wayne Hirsch; and sister, Mary Joan Hirsch. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2020 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N. Stockwell Road. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church with Father Zach Etienne officiating. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Mausoleum.
