Michael H. Casalena

January 27, 1948 - January 31, 2022

Michael H. Casalena, 74, of Evansville, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born January 27, 1948 in Chicago, IL to the late Velma (Finnerty) and Dominick Casalena. Michael graduated from Rex Mundi High School in 1966 and attended Evansville College. He retired from Working Distributors in 2016 after 43 years of service. Michael was a member of the Catholic faith. He was a loving husband, father, brother and especially enjoyed being a grandfather. Michael was an avid sports fan and enjoyed reading and spending time at his swimming pool. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Debbie (Slaughter) Casalena; sons, Dominick Casalena and Landon (Tanith) Overby; daughter, Angie (Seth) Cheek; grandchildren, Lucas Cooley, Livia Cooley, Hannah Casalena, Jake Casalena and Imogen Overby; sister, Mickey Merritt; brothers, Pat Casalena and Bernard (Brigitte) Spachtholz; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Diane Casalena. A Celebration of Life will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with sharing of memories starting at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville.
