Mark Scott Janssen

Mark Scott Janssen, 63, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021 at his home. He was born October 6, 1958 in Evansville to Doris (Boarman) Hansert and the late Gerald Janssen. Mark was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Scottsdale, AZ. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1977 and received his B.S. in Finance from Western International University. “Big Dawg”, as he was affectionately known by his family, loved being a Papaw to his grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Arizona Cardinals and IU Hoosiers. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Maribeth (Schaffstein) Janssen of Scottsdale, AZ; son, Matthew (Jill) Janssen of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Jake and Ella Janssen; mother, Doris (Ray) Hansert of Evansville; sisters, Lisa Berry of Evansville, Karen (Matt) Scheessele of Newburgh and Amy (Scott) Tenhumberg of Evansville; stepbrother, George Hansert of Evansville; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary 6500 E. Bell Rd. Scottsdale, AZ 85254. A mass will begin at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2022 at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church 10755 N. 124th St. Scottsdale, AZ 85259 with Father Michael Straley. Burial will be at a later date at Paradise Memorial Gardens.
