Lila L. Mullican

December 14, 1931 - March 28, 2022

Lila L. Mullican, 90, of Evansville, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. She was born December 14, 1931, in Emporia, Kansas to the late Andrew and Alice (Rossillon) Lutz. Lila graduated from the University of St. Mary, Leavenworth, Kansas with a BA in Sociology and attended graduate school at St. Louis University School of Social Work. She was employed as a Social Worker for Catholic Charities in Wichita, Kansas and in the personnel office of Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis, IN. Lila was a Roman Catholic and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was an avid reader and a lifelong student of the Scriptures and Catholic thought. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, Adult Literacy Tutor and participated in volunteer projects for Vanderburgh County Medical Auxiliary. Lila enjoyed needlework and gave away much of her handiwork to family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dr. William S. Mullican; son, Michael D. Mullican & his wife Rebecca Baker Mullican; son, Timothy J. Mullican, all of Evansville, IN; daughter, Mary Mullican Alexander and her husband Michael Alexander of Chester Springs, PA; daughter, Amy Mullican of Evansville, IN; sister, Janice Lutz McConney & her husband Charles McConney of West Bath, ME; sister, Doris Lutz Meyer of Topeka, KS; brother, David Lutz of Lawrence, KS.; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Lila was preceded in death by her sister, Sr. Geneva Lutz, OSF of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis, Springfield, IL. A private funeral Mass will be held for the family. Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, IN 47714 is handling the arrangements. Family requests that memorial contributions be made to the House of Bread and Peace Inc., 250 E. Chandler Ave., Evansville IN 47713-1643.
