Katherine "Kay" L. Grosso Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Katherine “Kay” L. Grosso, 88, of Evansville, previously of Aurora, IL, passed away and entered her heavenly home on Monday, August 10, 2020. She was born December 27, 1931 in Chicago, IL, to the late John and Mollie (Giuzio) Airoldi. Kay graduated in 1949 from Fenger High School in Chicago, IL. She worked for Pullman Bank in Chicago and B&R Pharmacy in Aurora, IL, where she and her husband raised their children. In retirement, Kay and Richard moved to Evansville and became members of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She loved reading, dancing, and playing cards. Kay was a very loving and accepting wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who lived her life devoted to her family. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, animated story-telling, and unique sayings, while enlightening all of those around her! Kay is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard B. Grosso; children, Richard B. Grosso, Jr; Mary Kay Kneppe (Delbert); Michael J. Grosso (Karin); and Kathryn Finnell (Jeffrey); grandchildren, Maranda K. Kneppe (fiancé, Brian Lott), Matthew Kneppe, Michael J. Grosso, Jr. (Rachel), Anthony D. Grosso (Kayla), Maria M. Grosso, Lorryn K. McGarry (Taylor), Garrett J. Finnell (fiancé, Caye Copeland), Sr. Zion Joy (Sisters of Life, Karalyn J. Finnell), and Alayna C. Finnell; sister, Jeanne Favre’ Negro; brother, Joseph C. Favre’; great grandchildren, Vinnic “Vinnie” P. Grosso, Veila M. Grosso, Gianna K. McGarry, Liam X. McGarry, Michael J. McGarry, Benedict A. McGarry, and Anthony K. McGarry; and many nieces and nephews. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mollie Airoldi and Camillo and Angeline Favre’; and daughter, Reneé Marie Grosso. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue. Memorial services will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2020 at the funeral home with Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Road with Father Bernie Etienne officiating. Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2020 at Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111th St., Chicago Ridge, IL 60415. Committal service will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 6001 W. 111th St., #6072, Alsip, IL 60803.
