John W. "Jack" Ruston Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John W. “Jack” Ruston, 95, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Majestic Care, formerly Signature Care, after a short battle with esophageal cancer. He was born February 16, 1927 in Evansville to the late Hobart C. and Loraine (Bitter) Ruston. Jack was a 1944 graduate of Central High School and served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He worked for A.C. Tilley Co. and retired from J.E. Shekell, Inc. in 1993. Jack had 13 part-time jobs after retirement and also was a volunteer shuttle driver for St. Mary’s Hospital. He was an avid golfer, playing his last round of golf at the age of 93. Jack is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jean (Stricker) Ruston; daughter, Kathy (Ruston) Harrison; grandchildren, Jamie (Ethan) (East) Calvert, Matthew (Lesya) Stallings and Julie (Corey) (East) Minnette; six great grandchildren; sister, Patricia (Ruston) Dixon; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Sue Ruston Stallings; brothers, Bob, Jim, and Chuck Ruston; sisters, Margie Wilson and Esther Groover; and son-in-law, Keith Harrison. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2022 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the funeral home with Reverend John Branham officiating. Entombment will be at Oak Hill Mausoleum.
