James A. Altstadt, 83, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Heritage Center. He was born January 18, 1938, in Evansville, to the late William J. and Della B. (Wildeman) Altstadt. James was a graduate of Mater Dei High School. He retired from Pulse Computer Systems in 2003, but spent most of his career at National City Bank working in Data Processing. James was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church where he was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. James is survived by his daughters, Karen S. Miller, of Lee’s Summit, MO, Cheryl L. Steele (Scott) and Joan M. Duggan (Kent), both of Evansville, and Beth A. Barnett (Sean), of Brownsburg, IN; brother, Bill (Dana) Altstadt, of Cleveland, OH; grandchildren, Tony and Matt Gumbel, Nicole Reed, Dan and Emily Miller, Andy Duggan, Kelli Wathen, Ellie and Avery Barnett, Austin and Ashley Steele, and Amber Edwards; great grandchildren, Ayden Callow, Joscelyn Gumbel, and Ena Edwards; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Kathryn (Weber) Altstadt. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday May 7, 2021 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave., Evansville, where a Memorial service will be conducted by the Holy Redeemer Knights of Columbus at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 W. Mill Road, Evansville. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Paul Ferguson officiating. The funeral will be live-streamed on the Ziemer Funeral Home and Cremation Services’ Facebook page 20 minutes prior to service time. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum.
