Gale "Gus" Gustafson

February 7, 1939 - January 21, 2022

Gale “Gus” Gustafson, 82, of Evansville, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at home. He was born February 7, 1939 in Garden City, Kansas to the late Carl and Clarissa (Troudt) Gustafson. Gus was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Peabody Coal, where he was the mobile equipment manager. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and volunteered at Mother Teresa Treasures. Gus was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling. He also enjoyed fixing things for his friends and repairing bicycles for the homeless. Gus is survived by his wife of 56 years, Connie Gustafson; son, Tory (Jacqueline) Gustafson of Mainesville, OH; daughter, Holly Gustafson of Indianapolis, IN; granddaughters, Brina and Mirabella Gustafson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Carole Dawson. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, IN 47714. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 at the church with Fr. Martin Estrada officiating. Entombment will be at St. John’s Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial Contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Condolences may be made online www.ziemerfuneralhome.com.
