Fenton “Jack” Fields Taylor, Jr., a resident of University Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, entered a new life on Sunday, December 20, 2020. He was 97 years, 11 months and 8 days of age. Jack was born in Caldwell County, Kentucky in 1923 to the late Gertrue and Fenton Taylor. Jack was a veteran of World War II, serving in England, France and Germany. He attended Lockyear’s Business College in Evansville and worked at A&H Truck Lines for many years. He was married for 64 years to Martha (Scherer) Taylor. In retirement, they enjoyed traveling, ballroom and square dancing and visiting their children. Jack was a charter member of Nativity Catholic Church. He loved gardening and enjoyed NASCAR and football. He is survived by his children, Stephen L. (Ruth) Taylor of Louisville, KY, Janet A. (Jim) Day of Mt. Vernon, IL, John S. (Susie) Taylor of Newburgh, IN, Ronald W. (Blenda) Taylor of Owensboro, KY, Mary Jo Hills of Evansville, and Susan E. (John) Stone of Venice, FL; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife; sister, Hazeldine Taylor and son-in-law, Mark Hills. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave. Funeral service will begin at 1:30 pm at the funeral home and a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 pm at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1303 S. Green River Rd with Father Bernie Etienne officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family would like to thank the entire staff at University Nursing and Rehabilitation for their loving care. His life has not ended but merely changed.
