Dorothy E. (Millay) Weigele

Dorothy E. (Millay) Weigele, 98, of Evansville, passed away Sunday December 27, 2020 at her daughter’s home. She was born October 12, 1922 in Owensboro, KY to the late Joseph and Maude (Mills) Millay. Dorothy formerly worked at SIGECO, Raintree Girl Scout Council, and Junior Achievement. She was a member of St. Benedict Cathedral, St. Ann’s Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, past president of the Little Sisters of the Poor Auxiliary, and Marian Day School Auxiliary. She and George enjoyed their Friday Nite Dance Club. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Karen A. (Russ) Burtnett of Newburgh, Andrea J. (Jeff) Wagner of Chandler, Barbara J. (Richard) Leibundguth of Newburgh; son, Brian J. (Peggy) Weigele of Newburgh; grandchildren, Rick Jillson, Steve Jillson, Melanie Boyko, Doug Wagner, Jessica Wells, Mandy Lottes, Carrie Gist, Jennifer Kellems, and Nick Pressley; 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George C. Weigele of 70 years who died in 2016; brothers, Joseph, Edward, Bill, and Jim Millay. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 Hebron Ave., where a memorial service will begin at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, at St. Benedict Cathedral, 1328 Lincoln Ave., with Fr. Godfrey Mullen officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to thank University Nursing and Rehab and Heart to Heart Hospice for the loving care they gave to our mother.
