Marian G. (Waterman) Adams Dalby was born July 16, 1921 to the late Edward Waterman and Carrie (Elpers) Waterman, the 8th of 8 children in the family. She passed away at Pine Haven Nursing/Rehab Center on August 22, 2012. Her siblings all predeceased her. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School and worked at Sunbeam Manufacturing until her marriage to Lawrence W. Adams in 1940. Mr. Adams died in 1956 from injuries suffered in a home accident and Marian was left to raise their 5 children all under the age of 15. Marian next worked as an assistant cook at Tekoppel School and as a clerk at Super X Drug Store. She married Lyle K. Dalby in 1969 and they enjoyed over 25 years of camping, fishing and traveling. Mr. Dalby died in 1998. Marian was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, their singles support group, the over 50’s group, life member of the Lady Owls Nest 2150, life member of VFW 1114 Auxiliary and a dedicated member of SWIRCA. She had a competitive spirit and enjoyed playing bingo, pokeno, cards, scrabble, dominoes and working crossword puzzles. She was an independent person and found it challenging to face the frailties of old age and diminishing memory.

She is preceded in death by her oldest son, Larry Wayne Adams; grandson, Michael B. Adams; 2 stepsons, Jack and James Dalby; step daughter, Sherry Halbig and 7 siblings.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Cheryl Raleigh (Joe); sons, Ronald Adams (Tillie), Michael Adams (Lynda), Steven Adams (Jo Lynn) all of Evansville; step son, Gary Dalby of Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; step granddaughters; step grandsons and step great grandchildren.
