Reverend Jicelyn I. Thomas answered the call of her heavenly father to come home at the age of 62, after a long battle with lupus and it's complications. She was born March 15, 1951 in Mobile, AL.

During her pilgrimage here, Jicelyn received a BA from Cleveland State University. a Fulbright Fellowship, a Masters of Divinity from Emory University in Atlanta, GA and was working toward a THD at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN when her illness progressed to a stage that made continuing impossible.

Close to her heart was the church. She loved to pray there, praise there, sing there, rejoice there, preach there, listen there, celebrate there and enjoy the company of her spiritual brothers and sisters.

Jicelyn loved to continually learn, travel, stay in touch with friends, sing and listen to gospel music. Two of her great passions were community outreach and mentoring children. When she lived in Evansville she participated in the Community based Patchwork Central. While attending St. John United Methodist Church she organized a children's choir. As a minister at Broadway United Methodist Church in Indianapolis she was a moving force in the Jubilee Summer Program for neighborhood children, a program still going strong.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Wilma Thomas; sister, Beverly Thomas of Evansville, IN; adopted sisters, Karen Horth Powers and Debbie Vawter of Indianapolis, along with many friends.

A Celebration of Jicelyn's life will held at 1:00 pm Saturday October 12, 2013 at Methodist Temple, 2109 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714. Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel will be handling the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jubilee Summer Program, Broadway United Methodist Church, 609 E 29th St, Indianapolis, IN 46205.
