Life Legacy

Audrey "Babe" Chamberlain, 92, of Evansville, passed away on December 14, 2008, at his home. He was born on February 17, 1916.
Audrey was preceded in death by his wife, Martha, son, Cary "Butch" Chamberlain, and granddaughter, Connie Schweizer.

Babe is survived by his son, Terry and wife, Pam, of Evansville, who were also his caregivers; son, Larry and wife, Ann, of Evansville; son, Donny Chamberlain; grandsons, Eric and Austin Chamberlain and Larry Kelsey; and granddaughters. Debbie Gontermon and Robin Dean.

Babe was a staff sergeant serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Matthew's United Church of Christ and VFW No. 1114. He excelled in basketball, baseball and football in his younger years and was a professional boxer for three years.

Babe was a plant superintendent at National Furniture for 32 years, plant manager at L.B. Jones for 5 years, and plant manager at Hesmer Food for 5 years until his retirement.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Houser and staff, Deaconess Home Care, and Deaconess Hospice and their entire staff.

Services 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2009, at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 N. First Ave., Evansville, officiated by Eric Varden. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at the funeral home.
